Peripheral Vision Arts is a grassroots non-profit organization, developed by artists and art historians, sponsoring merit-based Publication Fellowships for emerging and mid-career creators in the visual and applied arts. Our fellowships are open to visual artists over the age of 18 residing in the US, working in all disciplines and practices from Painting and Printmaking to New Genres and Street Art. We also offer a special fellowship for Emerging Women Artists because women remain under-represented in the academic and commercial art worlds. Our fellowship program is designed to create career development opportunities for 15-25% of applicants. Like our Facebook Page, follow us on Instagram, and Subscribe to the Website to learn about Opportunities and to receive bimonthly Journal bibliographies. For questions about our fellowships please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions page. Read articles in the Journal and check out our About page for more info. Journal issues No. 1 and 2 will be published in October and November. View Artist Profiles on our Publication Fellows page.
The Foundation Prize is open to all professional emerging and mid-career US artists over the age of 18. Artists currently enrolled in studio degree programs (BFA, MFA) are not eligible. Preference will be given to artists who do not have the benefit of major gallery representation, major grants, or extensive bibliographies of reviews or catalog essays. Peripheral Vision Arts will award the Prize on the basis of merit to those artists with a proven commitment to their craft through a mastery of technique, innovativeness of concept, educational experience, and/or professional practice, and the degree to which the work invites substantive critical inquiry.
Artists may submit up to three work samples for the initial editorial review. Select artists will be invited to submit a Statement and Bio during the second phase of the review.
